INNOVATIVE TRAINEESHIP & PRE-EMPLOYMENT PROGRAMMES
The perfect stepping stone to securing an apprenticeship or new job.
Not everyone is ready for work or an apprenticeship when they leave school or college, or after a period of absence.
Traineeships and pre-employment training are the perfect stepping stone into employment by giving employers a flexible and cost-effective route to prepare individuals for the workplace by gaining some valuable work experience and employability skills.
A traineeship is a great way for young people aged 16-24 to get onto the career ladder in a structured and flexible way. By offering an entry route into the world of work, employers can build a pool of high quality future recruits.
Trainees learn essential employability skills and gain work experience relevant to the industry sector they want to work in. Programmes last between one and 12 weeks and are made up of three key elements:
A work placement
Functional skills – improving English and Maths up to level 2
Employability skills/work preparation activity – such as interview training
While employers are not required to pay trainees a salary under both schemes, some individuals may qualify for funding and support, and some employers will provide financial support to meet travel and meal costs.
Upon successful competition of the pre-employment training or traineeship, individuals can start their working life – whether through an apprenticeship or another paid job.
GP Strategies offers a pre-employment training course to help get individuals (aged 18 and over), who are unemployed, back to work after a period of absence or to take their first step toward their chosen career. Our programmes last up to two weeks and are made up of the following elements:
A two-week work placement
Skills and qualifications specific to the employer
Interview training upon course completion
