Who is it for?
This programme is ideal for individuals starting their career working in social services for young people or to develop and upskill existing employees.
SVQ in Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF Level 7
There are no formal entry requirements although candidates should demonstrate a desire to work with children and young people and need to have the commitment and aptitude to achieve all elements of the modern apprenticeship.
Combines both work-based learning and experience with intensive instructor-led training courses to build and develop relevant industry skills.
Dedicated account manager and training consultant to support employers and apprentices throughout their modern apprenticeship journey.
Regular one to one workplace visits.
Flexible and innovative training methods geared to different learning styles.
Employees who complete this modern apprenticeship can progress to the Social Services (Children and Young People) Modern Apprenticeship at SCQF Level 9. Alternatively, they can study at master’s level in residential care or a degree in childhood practice.
Funding and financial support
Skills Development Scotland will contribute towards the training costs. For apprentices aged 16-19 years, apprenticeship training costs are 100% funded. For apprentices aged 20-24 years, a proportion of the training costs will be covered with employers meeting the rest.
